Wikipedia defines setting as "the time, location, circumstances in which a story takes place...(that) provides the main backdrop and mood for a story or stories. Setting can be referred to as milieu to include a context (especially society) beyond the immediate surroundings."
In what setting(s) does Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep take place? How do the characters respond to this/these setting(s)? What is your opinion of this/these setting(s) and why?

The setting in which Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep takes place is basically the same throughout the whole story, no matter in which place (city) the character finds himself/herself/itself (androids) in. It is a desolate, almost completely barren world in which the people of Earth are living in the story. It is 2021 and they have just suffered a near- appocaliptic nuclear war, which has left much of the planet either dead or dying. People regard any living being or creature as sacred, since many different species have died out completely. These same people try to live put their lives as they did before the war, but it is difficult since the population faces death due to the lasting nuclear debris and dust that fills up every corner of every city around the world. Many have actually been able to migrate to other off- world colonies on other planets, such as Mars. Everyone who has the money, and capacity, to emigrate away form Earth does, the only people unable to do so being either unhealthy or mentally unfit to do so. In order to accomodate the people living both at Earth and at Mars, and try to make them feel as alive as possible, companies have started to build androids of every kind (humans, dogs, sheeps, frogs, flies, etc) in order to help out and try to revive the atmosphere that people once had. The carcaters in the story react to this setting n many ways. The human ones try to live out their lifes as best as they can and never stop trying to acquire a real animal in order to have at their home. Other characters, such as the ones that arent human (humanoid roobots) try to blend in with the decaying society and live a life of their own as a real human.
My opinion of this society is that it is a clear example of what we humans are able of doing to the world and how our own greed and lust for power will eventually lead our own population down a horrible road and into our own doom. I think that it is unethical also to try and recreate life in the form of organic robots (androids) ad make them blend in to the ordinary lives of people, since companies do this only for a profit and dont realize that they are actually creating beings that are able to do everything we humans can do. They are creating more artificial life than they should. These are my opinios of this society because many characters in the book blame others for what happened to their home, when they dont realize that it is their own doing that caused their downfall.

The setting of the book is constant. At the beginning of the book it talks about San Francisco so I can assume that the story takes place in the West Coast of the US, California. It is in the year 2021 after a Nuclear War struck the globe. Earth is desolated and there are barely creatures that are fully natural, meaning that most of living creatures on earth have been created with technology and contain technology pieces that can control every aspect of their lives, androids. There are androids of all kinds, animals, people that are created by companies. Human beings that were wealthy enough migrated to Mars to avoid nuclear wastes and illness due to it. This setting leaves a struggle between humans that stayed on earth, they try to adapt to the situation and live their life as good as possible and the human androids that try to fit in a society that is in constant struggle and decay. This setting shows the reader clearly that humans indeed are in constant struggle for more and more power, which by consequence brings destruction and war to the world. Due to a complete destruction by the human ambition, new forms of live are brought into the planet trying to replace humans that have migrated to other parts. It is a simple solution but thinking about it, it is something that can not be done, trying to replace the humans with androids that live such an artificial way of live shows that the world has lost everything that made it up and that it is impossible to have a stable society as once the human was.

The book takes place in San Francisco and is constant. The book takes place in the year 2021 the world was completely altered by World War Terminus. Nuclear destruction caused radioactive dust to descent over the entire world. So the world was almost destroy, the human race was almost in extinct, some could migrate to mars to protect themselves from radioactivity. Rarely could you find a natural living creature. Companies start building robots, animals even humans with the help of technology. These creatures were named androids; the setting of the book is a way of showing human ambition, it shows what people are able to do to be powerful. Humans try to replace nature for artificial objects and I think that is totally wrong we should preserve and take care of the world. I think that making androids aggravate conflicts wasn’t a good solution.

This book takes places in the United States, more accurately in the West Coast where San Francisco is. After the world is struck by a Nuclear War in 2021, the world is filled with barely non living creatures but with artificial things such as androids. This androids come as people and even animals which are created by companies seeking to get a profit out of it. Humns that stay in earth try to fit in the new artificial "society" but they are just in a straight way to their misery. The rest of the humans actually migrated to mars with the hipe of getting away of nuclear and toxic wastes. This creates a struggles society where people just want power when they don't have anything, not even a real animal with them.
