When we talk about the theme of a work of literature, we are attempting to express some understanding that is communicated in the work. In the case of Anthem, what would you say is a theme?
HINT: Please try to express the theme in a complete sentence, not as a single word. For example: a possible theme of Romeo and Juliet is not just "love" but "When love breaks boundaries, it ends in tragedy."

The theme of Anthem is: "Individualism is important in a society". This theme is develop throughout the book by the main character, Equality 7-2521. He demonstrates individualism by many situations during the book such as, when he does the invention of the light bulb, even thoough the way he does the invention is illegal he shows to the scholars. Also that he acts in a unique way, because even though inventions and technology were not permitted he realizes and feels freedom. So being different from the rest is important because don't matter what others said or think about you.

The theme of the book anthem is individuality of a person. By this I mean that every self being has to feel free to take their own decisions. Equality 7-2521 figures out the power that he has and what he can do by himself. because of this he creates the light bulb.

The theme of the book anthem is "People must never give away their individuality". As time passes, the world that the book Anthem talks about, is a world in which the word "I" is forbidden to be used. The community tries to teach people that they must live for others, and for others only, and takes away everything that would make people want to be happy. The council tries to convince their people that they must just obey, and never question anything about their live, inflicting fear in people and taking away their freedom. So the inhabitants of this community are afraid to express their thoughts, afraid to ask questions and afraid to have feelings and thoughts that question the information that the council provides them. Like this, the council takes all their individualism away, and controls them easily.

Anthem is a book that mainly holds the global theme of "Individuality". The fictional novel talks about a community that wants to reach a utopian state of life were a council decides for everyone and cannot be questioned against. evidence of this is starting by the names or tags that are given to the people of the community "equality #". the Character Equality 7-2521, realizes that he must have his own thoughts about the world and be a free minded person and breaks the rules throughout the novel demonstrating his individuality

The theme of the book Anthem is the importance of individuality on each person. in the story the theme is shown by the main character Equality 7-2521. he is confident about himself and rebells against the council. this makes him different from the others becouse he had his own thoughts and did not fall on the utopian idea that the community had.

The theme of the book Anthem is the importance of individualism inside society. This theme is shown by the main character of the book equality 7-2521 in many situations. One of those is when he invented the light bulb although it was agianst the rules. This means that individuality is really important because each person is diferent and can aport positively, in this case a community, with their own ideas.

A possible theme to the book Anthem is "Individuality as a part of freedom and own consequences." The community in the book Anthem is very strict and non men have the chance to choose their future, discover new things nor love someone more than others. The community council are very closed to new ideas to come, and that makes evolution slower. Freedom is a very important word in this theme, at the end of the book we can see freedom for the first time when they decide to start a new community and change their names to Prometheus and Gaea.

I think that the theme of this book Anthem is "what an individual can do by itself, and learn by itself." I think that this is the theme of the book because at the beginning of the book people are controlled, and they are separated in groups and cannot do nothing that they want to do. But this group escaped to a type of cave, and found cables and they stole glass, and created light. As we know light is one of the major inventions, and not even because they created light they were approved, they were punished but they escaped to a better place a better life where they could think and do what they wanted.
